Job Description

Job Title: Controller

About the position

As Controller you will:

• Handle the financial reporting vis-a-vis AAK’s head office in Sweden as well as the accounting function in Aarhus, from the sites in West Africa, including West African group reconciliation together with the accounting managers reporting to you in West Africa.
• Work together with the local team in West Africa and our production facility in Aarhus, Denmark to manage the consolidated business result.
• Assist in the preparation of the financial reports for local purposes at each site.
• Improve and harmonize the methods and accounting procedures used in our different localities to secure required financial control.
• Perform internal audits and make certain accounting practices are conforming to internal and external regulations and governance standards.
• Work towards IFRS harmonization in line with the general development in the West African Economic Union.
• Handle external audits.
• Assist management teams in all financial issues, such as providing relevant KPIs, cost calculations, forecasting, cash management, sales prices, insurances, and various management information to improve performance throughout the entire operation.
• Develop the existing ERP/accounting systems towards adequate and effective utilization.
• Assist in the development of financial reports both for local and head office purposes.
• Handle relationships with external auditors.
• Handle bank relationships across the region.

You will be working in a team consisting of different nationalities at our locations throughout the region in West Africa, including Burkina Faso, Ghana and Benin.

You will be the financial link between our business in West Africa and our finance teams in the Business Area and head office. You will report to Head of Sourcing & Logistic for West Africa, with a strong dotted line to Maria Strand, Director Finance for BA Global Sourcing & Trading.

The relevant candidate for this position will see the charm and advantages in working in the environment of West Africa and should be a generalist rather than a specialist.

Qualifications

In order to be successful in the position it is of importance to be a “doer”,  to see the problems and solve them on an overall as well as a detailed level. You will be working with many different people,  why it is of outmost importance to be diplomatic, persistent and comfortable in building stable and trustworthy business relations with banks, auditors, tax authorities etc.

To travel in West Africa between our locations in the different countries should be a natural approach to your position and work. It is a merit to have  lived abroad before, but not a must.

Formal competencies:

The following criteria are important:

• Chartered Certified Accountant or equivalent from University
• Fluent in English
• Good knowledge in French
• Fluent in Swedish or Danish
• Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience
