Our global network of top-tier specialists delivers comprehensive services over the full life cycle of a project to benefit clients in government and private industries.Job Summary The Project Financial Controller reports to the Project Director and will supervise administrative support staff in all financial and logistics controls. The Project Financial Controller interacts with AECOM Africa finance & accounting personnel and project operational staff for compliance, reporting and financial management.

Job Title: Financial Controller

Duties And Responsibilities

The Project Financial Controller is responsible for

  • Supervising, coaching and mentoring administrative support staff in logistics and financial controls.
  • Working closely with the Project Director to ensure appropriate financial information is available for use in decision-making.
  • Performing the monthly financial forecasting and producing reporting documents for financial position.
  • Reporting actual and forecast cash flow of the project operations.
  • Reporting actual and forecast cost categories for the purpose of identifying anomalies and trends.
  • Managing the project accounts payable process.
  • Managing the petty cash accounting for the project in conformance with AECOM Africa requirements.
  • Managing the process of enrolling new vendors/suppliers in the AECOM systems.
  • Coding of project cost items with appropriate task codes.
  • Ensuring the internal control environment is strong and compliant with AECOM Africa requirements and AECOM policy.
  • Managing implementation of new accounting standards and corporate accounting policies.
  • Cooperating with financial audits and implementing procedural improvements per audit reports.
  • Procurement and leasing of project equipment.
  • Coordinating accommodation for employees.
  • Providing support for office staff.
  • Supporting the construction management team with ad hoc assignments.
  • Requesting for invoice numbers for Application for payment certificates.
  • Managing AECOM Tema Project Billings and collection systems.
  • Ensuring that employees are treated with care, respect and sensitivity.

RequirementsMinimum Requirements Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Engineering & Construction project management and/or project financial control experience.
  • Experience in the employ of a construction contractor is an advantage.
  • Experience in the employ of a consulting engineering firm is an advantage.
