African Security Sector Network (ASSN) was created at Elmina, Ghana in November 2003, out of a recognition of the need to harmonise the activities of the various African organisations working in the area of security sector reform (or transformation) and governance.

Under direct supervision of the Executive Secretary (and working closely with the Programme Manager), this position involves:

Liaising with donors and keeping abreast of new funding opportunities
Preparing work plans, budgets, donor reports
Ensuring familiarity and compliance with donor financial and other guidelines; and
Keeping track of reporting deadlines

Required Skills or Experience

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Security Studies, International Relations or similar field (Master’s preferred)
Strong writing skills and experience in report-writing; and familiarity with funding agencies and reporting requirements (actual experience with fundraising desirable)
Full competency in English and working knowledge of French is required
