Job Description

Major Position Responsibilities:

Run out-patients and other clinics
Provide emergency care
Initiate management plan for patients
Reports on the patient progress to the SMO/Specialist/Consultants (where applicable)
Undertake out-of-hours duties
Assist/perform surgical operations/procedures within competency
Appropriately refer patients outside competency
Provide support and information to patients/relatives as and when necessary
Engage in health promotion activities in the community
Report and investigate epidemics/outbreak of diseases
Conduct/participate in:
Ward Rounds
Clinical meetings
Morbidity/mortality meetings
Clinico-Pathological conferences
General staff meetings etc
Provide in-patient care
Carry out any other tasks that may be assigned by the Medical Services Manager or the Mine Management
Required Skills or Experience

Work Experience and Qualification:

Basic degree in Medicine, MB.ChB, or its equivalent from a recognised institution
Permanent & Current Certification of Registration with the Medical and Dental Council
Must have completed at least three years post-qualification training in an accredited institution
Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team environment
Supervisory/team leader experience
Experience of managing and organising own workload
Have general experience in all aspects of hospital services
Knowledge:
Knowledge of GHS Patients’ Charter
Knowledge and understanding of the MOH/GHS administrative set up and policies
Knowledge of Health and Safety
Knowledge and understanding of quality assurance issues
Knowledge of Hospital Protocols
General Knowledge in health related issues
