1. Systems Administrator

Job Description:

The following job vacancy exist at the Bolgatanga ICT Centre:

Head of IT Services. Responsible for the Installation, setup and monitoring of Local Area Network (LAN). Performs a variety of maintenance, evaluation, installation, and training tasks to ensure LAN performance meets company and user requirements. Liaises with Internet Service Providers and ensure its availability. Expected to fix and manage basic hardware task and maintenance schedule.

1. Co-ordinates availability, reliability and integrity of corporate ICT systems
2. Evaluates and/or recommends purchases of computers, network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software
3. Installs, configures, administers workstations, servers, networks, and other related equipment devices and systems
4. Troubleshoots networks, corrects malfunctions and other operational difficulties
5. Anticipates communication and networking problems and implements preventive measures
6. Ensures timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability
7. Investigates user problems, identifies their source, determines possible solutions, tests and implements solutions
8. Investigates, recommends and installs enhancements and operating procedures that optimize network availability
9. Maintains confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network
10. Assists in inventory documentation of all networks and hardware resources
11. Documents network problems and resolutions for future reference
12. Tasks inventory of all System and Network Resources
13. Plans, co-ordinates, and implements network security measures in order to protect data, software, and hardware
14. Recommends changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determines hardware or software requirements related to such changes. Researches new technology, and implement it or recommend its implementation
15. Develops and conducts various training and instruction for system users on operating systems, applications and tools, assists users in maximising use of networks and computing systems
16. Preparation of user manuals for employees and others of system
17. Plans and co-ordinates software updates
18. Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations. Performs routine system start up and shutdown procedures, and maintain control records
19. Monitor efficiency of SLA on ICT vendor services

 

Job Requirements:

• BSc in Computing Science or equivalence
• Minimum of 4 years experience in similar position or handling similar tasks
• Experience in management of LAN
• Good knowledge of Windows Client/Server environment
• Knowledge of Linux/Unix Administration will be an advantage
• Good communicator

 

 

2. Help Desk Officer

Job Description:

The following job vacancy exist at the Bolgatanga ICT Centre:

1. Act as attendant to users of the facility
2. Ensure that all computers and accessories are working
3. Troubleshooting of system
4. Provide daily log report on systems and network failures/issues
5. Act as support trainer where required
6. Any other assignment as may be issued

 

Job Requirements:

• A Diploma in Information Technology Programme from a relevant institution
• At least 2 years working experience in an IT field
• Basic Windows Server Administrator & Networking installation and management
• Ability to impart knowledge in Basic Office applications
• Excellent communication skills

 

 

3. Centre Manager

Job Description:

The following job vacancy exist at the Bolgatanga ICT Centre:

Head of organisation. Responsible for the overall management of personnel and activities, as well as the promotion and publicity of the centre. Be the focal point for all external, official and managerial interactions. Also ensures the smooth operations of the centre

1. Preparing, Planning and Directing Business Strategy for the Centre
2. Developing & Implementing of Annual & Marketing Plans
3. Promotion of Centre Activities
4. In charge of Training
5. Procurement Planning of Equipment, Facility, and any other item or Service
6. Supervision of all Staff including seconded and contract staff
7. Provide Policy Document for Management consideration for the smooth operation of the Centre
8. Represents The Centre at all relevant meetings

 

Job Requirements:

• A degree in Business Administration or Business IT or a related management programme
• Minimum of 2 years experience in similar position
• Development of Business and Marketing Plans
• Good communicator
• A working knowledge in ICT or training Institution is an advantage
