BuildCocoa is a six (6) years project aimed at building a sustainable cocoa sector in Ghana. It is being implemented by national and international partners to realize a sustainable value chain for cocoa in Ghana. We envisionmentally and socially sustainable for all actors. The project supports farmers in increasing their yields and generating more household income through the adoption of Certification Standards.

The partnership targets a value chain in which poverty of cocoa farmers in tackled and future supply of cocoa is secured, and will lead to structural proverty reduction, sustainable economic growth and self-reliance.

The project seeks to recruit personnel to fill the following vacancy:- Project Accountant

Primary Responsibility
BuildCocoa Project Accountant

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the project manager, the accountant shall:

•   Manage the Project’s budget including, preparing quarterly and annual budget plan, preparing quaterly and annual budget reports for project managers review, managing advance fund in compliance with the prevailing regulations, tracking disbursement progress, cash management and disbursement, returning VAT, processing and paying personal income tax, tracking expenditures of relevant stakeholders, loan accounting.
•   Making and recording accounting books, financial reports of project according to the rules and regulation set by project donor, including: Cash book, expenditure minutes, legder book, cash advance book and direct payment book as well as other books required by the financial rules and regulations
•   Supervise and coordinate the provision of all administrative personnel and financial support to the project, ensuring that appropriate control and reporting structures are maintained in accordance to the donors financial rules and regulations
•   Manage accounting and financial reporting functions ensuring consistency, timeliness and quality of information in accordance to project donor financial reporting standards
•   Ensure that the project maanger is properly informed at all times
•   Ensure appropriateness of control system, correctness and reliability of accounting records used in the project
•   Preparing travel documentations and payments of pr diem, other allowances etc.
•   Consolidate the accounts from different units of the project

Qualification Required & Experience

•   At least a first degree in accounting or financial management
•   Professional experience: 3+ years

Experience:

•   Proven experience and knowledge of modern accounting
•   Financial planning expertise
•   Proven knowledge of Accounting systems and software packages of Microsoft Office
•   Experience in managing donor led project budget in an advantage

Personal Skills

•   IT Literate
•   Excellent organisational Skills
•   Excellent report writing skills
•   complete proficiency in English

Job Title 2

The project seeks to recruit personnel to fill the following vacancy:- IT /Documentation Manager

Primary Responsibility
Manage all ICT related activities within the project

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Under supervision of the Project Manager

•   Develop and administer the internal Management system (MS) and otherinformation systems to support internal and external data reporting requirements for the project including track & trace of cocoa and all information related to the IMS of the project
•   Supervise the safe use of the system by the various operators, with respect to the procedures set by the project donors and standards setters. Evaluating user needs and system functionality and ensuring that ICT failities meet these needs
•   Scheduling upgrades and security backups of hardware and software systems
•   Ensuring security of data from internal and external attack
•   Providing statistical analysis of data to senior management as required
•   Develop and support internal data systems to support the efficient administration of the project

Qualification Required & Experience

•   At least a degree in Computer Science or related field
•   Professional experience: 3+ years

Experience:

•   Proven experience in MS Office suit
•   Proven experience in MIS
•   Proven Experience in data analysis and reporting

Personal Skills

•   Data modelling
•   Knowledge of operational processes, strategies and interdependencies with in a business

Job Title 3:

The project seeks to recruit personnel to fill the following vacancy:- Internal Managment (IMS) Manager

Key Duties and Responsibilities

•   Represent the certification management of the group
•   Represent the farmer group to outside parties
•   Coordinate all training activities of the group
•   Set up and operate an internal management system for the group
•   Revise and approve internal documents
•   Assist in maintaining internal documents
•   Assess the entry of new producers and advice the appropriate committee
•   communicate with the certification body
•   coordinate external inspection with the certification body

Qualification Required & Experience

•   At least first degree in Agriculture or related Discipline

Experience

•   Demonstrated understanding of certification standards and processes
•   Knowledge / experience of working with certification systems
•   Knowledge in the use of Global Positioning Systems (GPS)

Personal Skills

•   Strong inter-personal and good written and verbal communication skills
•   Ability to run a team and train other people
•   Valid license and ability to ride a motorbike in rough terrain
•   Good computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint)

Job Title 4:

The project seeks to recruit personnel to fill the following vacancy:- Field Officers (FOs)

Responsibilities
For the Internal Management System (IMS)

•   To register & contract cocoa producers
•   To maintain maps & records for the producers
•   To perform internal inspections and document in the Farm inspection form
•   To visit regularly the buying centres during harvest season to ensure that the procedures as mentioned in the IMS are followed.
•   To inform producers about the standards and needed improvements in their system

For extension activities

•   To organise trainings, demonstration
•   Assist producers to understand the internal standard
•   To advise & monitor all agronomic and best management practices

Qualification Required & Experience

•   At least Diploma in General Agriculture / Extension or Social Sciences

Experience

•   Demonstrable experience of work in rarul environments
•   Good understanding of certification standards and processes would be an added advantage
•   Knowledge / experience of working with certification systems
•   Knowledge in the use of Global Positioning Systems (GPS)

Personal Skills

•   Strong inter-personal and good written and verbal communication skills
•   Ability to run a team and train other people
•   Valid Driver’s license and ability to ride a motorbike in rough terrain
•   Good computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
•   Proficient in the Akan Languages

Job Title 5

The project seeks to recruit personnel to fill the following vacancy:- Program Manager

Primary Responsibility
To effectively coordinate and manage the field activities of the BuildCocoa Project in line with the objectives, Time frame and Budget.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the project Steering Committee, the project managers duties among other shall include:

•   Successful manage all field operation related to the project
•   Supervise activities of field staff (IMS Managers and Trainers)
•   Effectively coordinate the activities of Adwumapa operational staff (District Managers, Depot Keepers and Purchasing Clerks) towards the successful implementation of the BuildCocoa Project Develop detailed budget and planning for first certification cycle of the project.
•   Develop Manaul of Procedures for the project steering committee (SC)
•   Ensure adequate reporting and effective information, to effectively communicate activities, progress, reports, data and other relevant information to the project steering committee.
•   Ensure that project farmers are certified against selected Certification Standard (e.g. UTZ and/or RA)

Qualification Required & Experience

•   At least First Degree in Agriculture or related Disciple.
•   Professional experience: 5+ years

Experience:

•   Considerable field experience with international organisations
•   Experience in developing / conducting training courses and developing capacity of staff
•   Excellent leadership, coordination and business management skills
•   Knowledge on sustainable / quality certification standards
•   Demonstrated knowledge of the Agricultural sectors
•   Experience in the cocoa industry
