BUSAC Fund is a project funded by DANIDA, DFID, and USAID. It provides grants to associations and groups in the private sector to undertake advocacy actions: Advocacy actions that are expected to help remove bottlenecks and barriers to during business in Ghana.
Job Description
The BUSAC Fund requires the services of consultants to serve as Proposal Evaluators, Due Diligence Specialists, Grant Monitors and Trainers on a part-time basis. Interested individuals should send their expression of interest for the selected position as indicated below:
1. Proposal Evaluators, (10 positions in Accra)
Evaluate grant applications submitted by Private Sector Organisations (PSO)
Prepare summary reports for the Fund Management Unit (FMU) and the
Steering Committee (SC) for use in selecting PSOs for grant approval
2. Due Diligence Specialists (to be accredited; 2 positions in each of the 10 regions)
Assist in Project to conduct due diligence verifying PSO information and providing advice on how to improve their grant proposals
Implement the Advocacy Capacity Diagnostic Tool to create baseline data on PSOs
Implement mid-term and end of project Capacity Diagnostic Tool questionnaires for use by the Fund Manager with the M&E system
3. Grant Monitors (to be accredited – 2 positions in each of the 10 regions)
Monitor the grants implemented by the PSOs over the life of their grants
Help build management capacity of the grantee PSOs covering accounting, reporting and grant implementation
Deliver reports the Fund Manager (Periodic and final) to be used within our grantee use of BUSAC funds in support of the advocacy grant
4. Trainers (to be accredited – 2 short-term positions in each of the 10 regions)
Trainers will provide capacity building to PSOs at the beginning of each grant concerning “how to advocate”
Provide selected PSOs with training on specific issues such as leadership skills for executives, budgeting, fund raising, business planning, membership drives and capital generation funded outside the PSO advocacy grants
Required Skills or Experience
For each of the part-time positions, the applicant must have the relevant experience for the chosen Field in addition to the following:
Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Economics, Business Management, Development Work, Social Science, or related disciplines
Minimum of three years working knowledge of selected discipline
Adequate knowledge in accounting and financial reporting; and
For all short-term consultants we will engage equal numbers from each of the ten regions
Additional requirements for all positions:
Excellent written and English
Good Computer skills
Ability to communicate effectively and articulate the principles of the Fund within outside the work place
Good interpersonal skills, a responsible professional team player
Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
Must be trustworthy and honest
Ability to speak the major local languages within the operational area will be an added advantage
