Description

Job Title: Managing Director

Job location: Accra, Ghana

Pisition Purpose:

  • Manage and lead operations in Ghana
  • Manage and lead management teams
  • Part of the West Africa Leadership Team
  • Speaking partner for governments local authorities, officials etc
  • Implement corporate policies, mindset, ethical standards in Ghana

Major Tasks:

  • 15% Lobbying, government and authoirites relations: manage high profile stakeholders, high level negotiations, relations to World Bank, IMF CMC, Cocobod

Represent Cargill in professional organizations, (Grinders association, Industry Association, LBC Association, Public private platform ), Customer visits etc

Donors

All external stakeholders

  • 15% Lead management teams and define global strategy, vision in;

Sourcing

Sustainibility

Risk Management

Investments

Operations

  • 10% Lead management teams and define policies for:

PNL, SGA, costs, ROGI

Costs versus Cocobod pre set costs

Profitability Plant – LBC

  • 10% Manage and lead management teams for:

Plant operations

Production

Yields products mix

Advertisement

EHS safety

Security

  • 25% Lead LBC operations, expand, scale up activities, EHS, Safety, Security
  • 10% HR:

Coordinate management teams,

Structure HR policies and organisations of teams, people management, processes, systems

Manage Ghana ELT

Develop African talents,

  • 15% Any other duties as assigned

Other Requirements:

The job requires an ability to work with a high level of complexity, to deal with crisis situation and has a high exposure to polical systems

  • Must be ready to manage complexities, change and crisis:

-Constantly changing political and business environment:

-high level of corruption,

-fiscal unstability,

-ever changing rules

-Non liberalized environment

  • Capacity to maintain high ethical standards
  • High communication skills: relations to high profile authorities, government, donors, customers – relation to media
  • Good Health conditions: High risk of malaria, tropical disease
  • Travelling: 30%

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Master degree in business economics or equivalent
  • 10 years experience

– At least 2/3 years experience in commodities, trading

– At least 4/5 year in extensive operational and strategic leadership with responsibilities for PnL, and track record in delivering growth

– 2 /3 years experience in magement

– Experience in emerging countries/ Africa a plus

  • Extensive operational, commercial and strategic leadership
  • Strong leadership qualities, with the ability to direct, develop and motivate large teams
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution, ability to communicate vision and strategy, providing a clear sense of organizational direction
  • Extensive experience of working in an emerging market / ideally Africa, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and developing effective relationships with local teams
  • Effective communicator with excellent persuasive and interpersonal skills: ability to develop networks and high quality relationships
  • Resilience to work under significant pressure in a very complex political and social environment
  • Willingness to manage across multiple locations with travelling
  • Ability to maintain high ethical standards
  • English speaking
