The Central University was founded by the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) in Accra, Ghana. It started off as a pastoral training institute in 1988. It was then known as the Central Bible College by June 1991. It later became the Central Christian College in 1993 and eventually became the Central University College in 1997. Among the stated aims of the university is to provide an “integrated and biblically-based tertiary education with particular reference to the needs of the African continent”.It is currently the biggest private university in Ghana.

Job Description

Job Title: Dean – School Of Applied Sciences

Job Statement:

Under the Pro Vice Chancellor (Academic) of the Central University, the Dean of the School of Applied Sciences is responsible for mainining and promoting efficiency and good order, and providing strategic direction for running the School in accordance with the policies and procedure res prescribed by the University statute or as may be determined by the University Council, Academic Board and its Statutory organs purposely for ensuring that the approved programs and functions of the school are fully carried out by its members.

  • The Dean of the School is responsible for the general development of the School regarding human and material resources and for the promotion of the work of the School in areas such as student counseling, coordination of teaching and examinations, student/staff induction, research and lnternationaltsation.
  • The Dean is the Chairman of the School Board and Administrative Head of the School and is a member of a range of University Committees and Boards as specified by the Statutes.
  • The Dean is required to teach in his/her subject area of competence, provide strong academic, intellectual, and scholarly leadership toward research excellence and knowledge dissemination through advocacy and extension.

Duration of Appointment: 

  • Appointment is for 3 years in the first instance and may be renewed for a further 3 year term.

Required Skills or Experience

  • The candidate must have academic/professional qualification in any area of relevance or related fields and and be of a Professorial status in a recognised institution and should have considerable experience in teaching, research and general administration
  • Must be an exceptional scholar with a strong managerial acumen; capable of influencing and motivating staff
  • Must be capable of handling and coordinating multiple roles and also maintain high level professional and ethical standards
  • Must be visionary, business-oriented and capable of maintaining collaboration with internal/external stakeholders
  • Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills to handle crisis situations
  • Must be sober and mature with the capacity to drive the vision of the  School
  • Must have strong links with international bodies, scholars aid scholarly associations in Management and Business
