The Director-General is the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, and subject to such general directions as the Board may give, is responsible for overall leadership, co-ordination, guidance and supervision of the work of the corporation.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- The day-to-day administrative of the Corporation
- Advise the Board on corporate and operational policies and procedures
- Implementation of the decisions of the Board and the policies, bye-laws, and other instruments and objectives of the Corporation
- Provide guidelines to conform with the principles of public broadcasting
- Present to the Board monthly reports of the operations and activities of the Corporation
- Present a draft annual budget estimates of the Corporation to the Board three (3) months before the end of the financial year or as directed by the Board
- Presentation to the Board the annual work plan based on the approved budget not later than one month after the beginning of the financial year
- Submit to the Board a mid-year report on the implementation of the work programme plan
- Submit to the Board an annual report on the activities of the Corporation in the preceding year within three (3) months of the year
- Ensure that Audit report is presented to the Board within three (3) months after the end of the financial year
- Ensure provision, as a public service, of independent and impartial broadcasting services (sound and television) for general reception in Ghana
- Engage, in accordance with Board policy, in commercial broadcasting through the sale of period advertisements scheduled at prescribed segments in its programme service
- Ensure compliance with output requirements under the law in the public service broadcasting of the Corporation
- Develop and maintain a philosophy of management and corporate culture that fosters co-operation
- Any other relevant duties/responsibilities that may be assigned by the Board
Required Skills or Experience
- A minimum of Master’s Degree in Sciences or Arts, preferably, Mass Communications, Journalism, Business/Public Administration, Engineering, Economics, Management or its equivalent professional qualification from a recognized institution, with not less than fifteen (15) years’ post qualification relevant work experience, five (5) years of which must be in a senior management position

- Excellent marketing orientation and good knowledge of Media Networks, particularly the electronic media
