Background:
UNDP is providing assistance to the Government of Ghana to implement a project titled “Promoting of Appliance of Energy Efficiency and Transformation of the Refrigerating Appliances Market in Ghana”. The primary objective of the project is to improve the energy efficiency of appliances marketed and used in Ghana through the introduction of a combination of regulatory tools such as Minimum Energy Performance Standards and Information Labels (S&L), and innovative economic tools.

Duration of Initial Contract: 1 year (One year renewable)

Duties:
Under the direct supervision of the Executive Secretary of the Energy Commission, the incumbent will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

  • Manage the project implementation in accordance with objectives, work plan and planned budget;
  • Management and technical oversight of all project activities, staff, consultants and etc., for timely implementation of requirements on M&E;
  • Monitor financial resources and accounting to ensure accuracy and reliability of financial reports;
  • Coordinate the project activities with relevant stakeholders and implementing partners

 

Required Skills or Experience

Competencies:
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal, networking and teambuilding skills;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with analytic capacity and the ability to synthesise project outcomes and relevant findings into quality papers and reports, intended for a range of different audiences;
  • Shares knowledge and experience actively, mentors project staff;
  • Capability to produce high quality communication and outreach materials to inform stakeholders and project partners

Qualification:

  • At least 5 years work experience in project management. Previous work in international project management is an advantage;
  • University education in Engineering, Energy, Physics, Business Management, Social Sciences or relevant field. A post-graduate degree (MSc, MPhil, PhD etc) is an advantage;
  • Knowledge and experience in the energy efficiency sector would be an asset; Excellent skills in standard software (Word processing, spreadsheets); Experience in the development/implementation of UNDP project is an asset;
  • Fluency in both oral and written English
