Environmental Superintendent Vacancy

Perseus Mining is a duet listed (Australia, Toronto) gold miner and explorer focused on the West African region. Perseus Mining (Ghana) Limited (PMGL) has recently commissioned the world-class Edikan gold project in the Western Region of Ghana. Edikan Gold Mine (EGM) has a current mining reserve of 3.3M oz of gold from a resource base of 4.3M oz. The Edikan processing facility has been designed as a 5.5Mtpa processing facility with the ability to expand this to 8Mtpa in the future. The plant is capable of producing at a rate of 220-270,000oz gold

Job Description

The Environmental Superintendent, reporting to the Environmental Manager, will assist in the development, establishment and maintenance of the environmental management system of Perseus (Ghana) Limited, Edikan Gold Mine near Ayanfuri.

The responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to:-

• Co-ordinate both internal and external reports in accordance with established procedures and deadlines;
• Assist in the development and management of the implementation of the Mine’s EMS and its integration into other management systems (ISO14001);
• Review and improve operational practice in all the various sections of the department (monitoring, rehab, compliance and EMS);
• Undertake environmental inspections and audits of the project facilities and activities;
• Assist in the establishment of environmental training needs analysis and competency training; and
• Supervise progressive rehabilitation of the project and affected areas in line with the project rehabilitation and closure plan

The position is site based and the Company offers a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the candidates’ qualifications and experience.
 

Required Skills or Experience

• The successful applicant must possess Degree in Science, Engineering, Environmental Management or a related discipline with 5 years recent experience in a similar role. Understanding of Compliance and Risk management, Safety Culture and Management of Environmental Auditing are essential.
