Network Coordinator
Background:
The UN Global Compact is a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. By doing so, business, as a primary driver of globalization, can help ensure that markets, commerce, technology and finance advance in ways that benefit economies and societies everywhere.
The Ghana Network was established in July, 2002 and serves as a focal point of co-ordination and communication for its members with its key goals of promoting the Global Compact principles throughout Ghana; enabling participants to share and exchange practice, experience as well as promoting and supporting the Global Compact worldwide.
To increase corporate impact and private sector commitment UNDP Ghana, the UNDP Nordic Office and the Confederation of Danish Industries (DI) with support from DANIDA are funding a project to strengthen the sustainability of the Global Compact Ghana Network.
Job Description
Location: Accra, Ghana (Ghana Chamber of Mines)

Duration of Initial Contract: One Year
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Network Representative and project partners from DI and UNDP, the Network Coordinator will:
- Serve as a company contact for the Global Compact Network Ghana (GCNG):
- Organize and coordinate participation, learning, and outreach events for network members;
- Administrate GCNG database and oversee content and design quality;
- Offer support to companies and Network members with daily enquiries;
- Follow up network members to ensure they meet requirements for the annual Communication on Progress (COP) by due dates;
- Oversee needs assessment surveys and annual general meetings for the network;
- Keep an updated COP assistance kit and offer companies limited assistance with COP requirements;
- Identify potential members from GCNG corporate performers and pursue recruitment;
- Keep updated standard procedure and step-by-step guidelines on sign up process for the Global Compact;
- Upload international links to the Global Compact website and keep the website updated;
- Coordinate stakeholder and steering committee meetings for the GCNG
- Coordinate CSR training for company focal points;
- Organize mentorship workshops for members;
- Develop and publish publicity material for the network including brochures, newsletter and other network publications;
- Any other tasks as may be delegated by project partners
Required Skills or Experience
- University degree in humanities and/or social sciences, particularly, Economics, Business Studies and/or Communication
- An interest in assisting companies with Corporate Responsibility-awareness and implementation
- A flair for writing and events management will be an added advantage
- A minimum of three years relevant work experience
