Job Description:

Purpose of the Job:

The incumbent shall apply knowledge and experience to Heavy Mining Equipment (HME) management systems, processes, policies and resources provided in the Mining Maintenance Unit using best practice principles. He will also ensure planning and maintenance of heavy mining equipment parts e.g. tray and bucket in a responsible, safe, efficient and effective manner for high equipment availability and reliability

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring the achievement of high equipment availability within Industry standard
• Ensuring that Heavy Mining Equipment (HME) Ground Engagement Tools (GET) system is maintained and positioned in line with Gold Fields Ghana (GFG) operational requirements and objectives
• Monitoring GET and bucket/tray life per machine with a weekly reporting system
• Managing and controlling the HME GET yard
• Implementing effective cost management and financial performance monitoring system
• Establishing and maintaining high performance and cohesive teams
• Maintaining a safe and friendly environments
• Ensuring that effective engineering standards and procedures are developed and implemented in compliance with ISO I400I and OHSAS I800I requirements
• Ensuring that HME staff are effectively trained, developed, and supervised

Required Skills or Experience

Key requirements:

• Tertiary Qualification in Welding or related Engineering field
• Minimum of five (5) years experience in Heavy Mining Equipment (HME) maintenance
• Sound knowledge of CAT 785 Haul Truck tray and large (>15m3) hydraulic excavator bucket maintenance and repairs
• Experienced in the application of different wear packages on buckets and Haul Truck trays
• Experienced in safe lifting practices
• First-hand knowledge in different GET types and applications
• A hands-on approach and willingness to work long hours
• Project management skills
• Lean 6 Sigma experience
• SAP Proficiency
• Analytical thinking
• Business acumen
• Medical fitness for the position and environment
