Golden Star Resources: Engineer Manager

Golden Star Resources is a growing Company with two operating mines in Ghana and other projects at various stages of development. The Company’s Bogoso/Prestea operations, located 10km south of the town of Bogoso in the Western Region of Ghana, is in the process of expanding with the commissioning of a new BIOX Plant in 2007. To supplement its open pit production, the Company is evaluating the feasibility of resuming Underground operations.

Job Description

Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Plant Maintenance and Mobile Equipment departments

Responsible for the effective organisation, co-ordination and supervision of plant maintenance and mine maintenance (mobile equipment) departments
Provide leadership to the operations through development and maintenance of productive relationships that ensure achievement of production KPIs, efficiency and targets
Provide motivation and leadership for employees to meet environmental, health and safety goals
Develop work practices to achieve the optimum operation of the mining fleet
Prepare accurate and timely engineering reports for top management decisions
Responsible for the preparation and management of sectional budgets
Perform any other related duties assigned from time-to-time

Required Skills or Experience

Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or its equivalent with at least ten (10) years hands-on experience with a reputable organisation
Significant experience with mining operations will be an added advantage
Knowledge of and experience in engineering methodologies and practices, engineering designs and quality controls
Must have a strong focus on Health, Safety and Environment
Must have a solid reputation for effectively achieving results through successful motivation and support for people at all levels
Excellent communication and task prioritisation skills
Exceptional interpersonal and people management skills
Must be computer literate
Must possess a valid driving license
