Golden Star Resources Ghana: Senior Metallurgist

Golden Star Resources is a growing Company with two operating mines in Ghana and other projects at various stages of development. The Companys Bogoso/Prestea operations, located 10km south of the town of Bogoso in the Western Region of Ghana, is in the process of expanding with the commissioning of a new BIOX Plant in 2007. To supplement its open pit production, the Company is evaluating the feasibility of resuming Underground operations.

Job Description

Monitor, investigate and analyse plant technical performance for continuous improvement and maximum operational efficiency
Provide technical metallurgical solutions to specific challenges at the Processing Plant
Monitor reagent consumption rates at the Plant
Work closely with operations and maintenance personnel, to identify, investigate and implement improvements within the circuits
Troubleshoots complex technical problems and provide advice, guidelines and supervision to operating personnel
Monitor day-to-day plant performers and ensure target operating parameters are adhered to
Ensure calibration, proper use, handling and efficiency of all instrumentations at the section
Review Standard Operating Procedures for the Plant in collaboration with sectional superintendents
Conducts research and development initiatives for Plant optimisation
Perform any other related duties that may be assigned from time-to-time

Required Skills or Experience

Degree in Metallurgy or its equivalent with at least six (6) years hand-on experience in a mining environment
Experience in Biox plant operations will be added advantage
Excellent communication and people management skills
Must be a good team player
Fluent and working knowledge in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint etc
