Golden Star Resources (GSR) is a growing mining Company with two operating mines in Ghana, Golden Star (Bogoso/Prestea) Limited and Golden Star (Wassa) Limited and other projects at various stage of development.

1. Mine Maintenance Field Supervisor

Job Description

  • Supervise maintenance staff and carry out preventive/breakdown maintenance on all machines in the field
  • Initiate, implement and manage maintenance programmes based on best practices with emphasis on safety, planning/scheduling and preventive/breakdown maintenance;
  • Ensure schedules and objectives are attained for corrective and preventive maintenance
  • Ensure maintenance personnel are adequately trained, equipped and motivated;
  • Direct subordinates in their roles through regular discussions and reviews
  • Ensure safety standards and environmental obligations are incorporated in maintenance planning and scheduling;
  • Compile statistical data for monthly reports; and
  • Perform any other related duties assigned from time to time by supervisor

 

Required Skills or Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with at least five (5) years working experience in a similar position
  • Knowledge of Liebherr and Caterpillar equipment
  • Knowledge of computerized maintenance
  • Proficiency in planning and maintenance scheduling
  • Ability to sequence and schedule complex interrelated activities
  • Excellent job analysis and report writing skills
  • Good people management and communication skills
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills
  • Must possess a valid Ghanaian drivers’ license

 

 

2. Supply Superintendent

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that the purchasing and supply function operates effectively
  • Ensure availability of supplies of parts and materials to meet operational requirements
  • Adhere to domestic purchasing strategy and operational requirements
  • Attend all purchasing meetings including pre-bid, pre-ward and progress claim settlement
  • Ensure that proposed purchasing strategies are acceptable to the end users by sending quotations from the suppliers to the users for them to check the proposed delivery time, the quoted price and proposed quality
  • Monitor and rectify purchasing discrepancies
  • Maintain up-to-date records of all transactions with suppliers on computerized database in relation to domestic and international purchases
  • Maintain contact with all relevant departments to ensure that stock items and stock levels are appropriate to their requirements
  • Arrange for approval of quotation reviews according to relevant financial and end user authority level
  • Perform any other relevant job functions assigned from time to time

 

Required Skills or Experience

  • Degree in Social Science or Diploma in Purchasing and Supply with at least Six (6) years working experience in a similar position
  • Knowledge of and sound understanding of Logistics management
  • Knowledge of and sound understanding of managing budgets;
  • Managerial experience and experience of managing budgets;
  • Excellent negotiating skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Good communication skills
  • Analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Must have high sense of responsibility;
  • Competency in stock analysis;
  • Resilient and able to hold people accountable;
  • Must possess a valid Ghanaian drivers’ license

 

3. Component Overhaul Supervisor

  • Overhaul major components using best practices;
  • Maintain control over a large fleet of mobile equipment
  • Ensure availability of mobile equipment
  • Control quality of maintenance work
  • Ensure maintenance targets are achieved
  • Determine the safety and readiness mobile equipment
  • Provide leadership, train and coach subordinates to achieve superior performance
  • Perform any other related duties assigned from time to time by supervisor

Required Skills or Experience

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or MVM Part 1, 2, & 3 at least five (5) years hands-on experience
  • Complete knowledge in machinery- Cat 777B, Cat777D, Lieb994, wheel loaders etc
  • Ability to diagnose faults on components
  • Ability to supervise shift work
  • Ability to collate data and report appropriately;
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Ability to work for extended hours;
  • Must possess a valid Ghanaian drivers’ license

 

 

4. Resettlement Construction Superintendent

  • Coordinate and supervise all construction activities and day-to-day running of the sites
  • Direct all field personnel to achieve completion of project on schedule, within budget, and with quality of workmanship that conforms to laid down procedures and specifications
  • Prepare and monitor construction schedules and maintain positive working relationships with consultants, contractors, suppliers and others on the project
  • Provide timely report and feedback on all project activities as required by the project team, including assistance in verifying contract claims and payments
  • Promote job site safety, encourage safe working practices and ensure strict adherence at all times to company safety policy and procedures
  • Investigate and respond to any environmental or safety incidents or accidents involving project contractors and personnel as well as ensuring that good housekeeping standards are developed and maintained on continuous basis at the project site;
  • Train and develop subordinates on the job to facilitate systematic acquisition of knowledge and skills to improve job performance; and
  • Perform any other related duties assigned from time to time by supervisor

 

Required Skills or Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Construction Management or Engineering with at least five (5) years hands-on experience
  • Membership of a recognized professional body will be an added advantage
  • Significant experience in scheduling, field supervision, quality control
  • Extensive exposure in all phases of residential or estate construction
  • Excellent communication and people management skills
  • Must be computer literate
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills
  • Must possess a valid Ghanaian drivers’ license
