Goldfields Ghana Jobs: Unit Manager

Abosso Goldfields Ltd, Damang Gold Mine, a subsidiary of Gold Fields Limited and located in the Western Region of Ghana is looking for a qualified person to fill the above vacant position

Purpose of Job:
Reporting to the Financial Manager, the incumbent will provide management with accurate and timeous information which measures the company’s performance with respect to cost and production for decision making purposes

Key Responsibilities:

Preparing periodic financial reports to assist in management decision making
Ensuring confidentiality of information at all times
Preparing and maintaining Performance Monitoring reports on cost and production
Management of deadlines and critical Calendar times such as Financial Year end reports
Collation and the preparation of all Departmental budgets including the total budget preparation for the mine
Assisting with the preparation/compiling all financial schedules and forecasts for the Life of Mine
Ensuring the proper administration of Accounting and Fixed Assets systems
Establishing and maintaining good communication channels between departments to allow accurate and timeous dissemination of relevant information to the right people
Liaising with Departmental Head to check departmental costs
Making inputs in the preparation of Expatriate and Senior Employees’ payroll as and when required
Ensuring the development and training of subordinate staff

Required Skills or Experience

Key Requirements:
BSc Accounting or BCom qualification from a recognized tertiary institution
A Chartered Account from a recognized professional body such as ACCA, ICA, CIMA, CPA
At least 5 years relevant experience in a mining environment at the appropriate level
Well developed oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to interact with people of diverse cultures and levels
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Strong Analytical Skills
Knowledge in computerised accounting systems i.e. ACCPAC, SAP or other ERP systems and Microsoft Office products such as MS Word, Advanced Excel and Power Point
Knowledgeable in SOX requirements and controls
Medical fitness for the position and environment
A valid and current light duty vehicle license and proficiency in driving a light vehicle
