External Job Title Compliance & Ethics Manager

CONTEXT: Guinness Ghana Breweries is a leading brewer and marketer of premium alcoholic and malt drinks in Ghana. It has the vision of being the Ghana’s most celebrated business. The Diageo Global Compliance & Ethics Program is focused on embedding and sustaining compliance with the Code of Business Conduct, internal policies and external regulation, within the fabric of Diageo. This role is key in ensuring the overall program is implemented and embedded effectively in the Guinness Ghana (GGBL), meaning GGBL population act with the highest standards of integrity at all time.

PURPOSE: The role supports the Head of Compliance & Ethics for Ghana in maintenance and continuous improvement of the compliance & ethics program in the Market. This is primarily centered on the Code of Business Conduct and the other compliance & ethics initiatives and activities to ensure Guinness Ghana complies with relevant legislation and internal policies, and is seen as a force for good.

TOP ACCOUNTABILITIES: The role holder will be the primary Compliance & Ethics contact with the business units in the market. To support the Head of Compliance & Ethics in the roll-out and embedding of the Compliance & Ethics program in GGBL to ensure a high level of awareness and understanding within the company and outside the company.

Priorities will include:

  • Assist embedding the Code of Conduct and associated policies in Guinness Ghana;
  • Implementing an effective training and communication plan to support the embedding of the Code and address high risk areas
  • Ensure the business leaders adopt positive steps to develop a culture of integrity in their businesses
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the local compliance strategy. QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Finance, Legal or Communication qualifications (qualified solicitor or Corporate Communication background preferred but not essential) or other professional qualification with 2 to 4 years’ experience of Compliance & Ethics programs.
  • Perceptive and appreciative of different countries’ cultural differences
  • Strong project management focus and ability to proactively manage own workload BARRIERS TO SUCCESS:
  • Inability to appropriately prioritize and deliver, or manage key stakeholders
  • Push back from other parts of the business on the relative importance of the compliance agenda
  • Lack of determination and rigor in approach
