IBIS is an International Non Government Organization which has been operating in Ghana since 2002. Our Africa Against Poverty Programme (AAP) started in 2006 and this 3rd Phase is scheduled to run to 2014. The goal is to address global structural causes of poverty and to collaborate with others – both nationally, regionally and internationally – to spark activities that influence policies and strategies that eliminate poverty.

Education Programme Director

Job Description

Based in Tamale the Programme Cirector has responsiblity for leading on all education issues IBIS with responsibility for developing leading and directing a team of Education Facilitators and other staff. The Director is expected to maximise the impact of IBIS strategies and policies through workin in close colaboration with partners organistions & engaging critical stake holders in programmes. This is a leadership and the programmes Director will be part of the Senior Management Team within IBIS and perform the following responsibilties;

Lead Strategic programme development & operations on education issues focusing on complementary approaches to girls’ education and quality education
Influence education rights objective through collaboration with strategic stakeholders
Promote greater governanace and accountability in education
Ongoing research ,analyss and advice on current education developments
Leading and developing a team of professionals
Lead in monitoring ,evaluating and reviews within thethematic programme and projects.

Required Skills or Experience

Masters’ Degree or equivalent level of undertanding and experience in the field of Education.
At least 4 years experience of researching and advising on education (including alternative eduaction) policy issues from a rights perspective
Experienced at advocacy and advising policy -makers on socio -economic issues
Experienced in participatory methodologies
Senior Management experience preferably within the civil society context including financial management
Sound exeperience of people management
Experience in fundraising and donor negeotiations
Results focused and able to effectively influence policy- makers at the highest levels
