IBIS Education for Empowerment Programme (EFE) has since 2004 been working to strengthen civil society groups and their engagement with state agencies, to assist excluded children assert their right to quality basic education under the framework of the Education for all and Millennium Development goals.

Job Description

The persons serve as resource and sparring partners for all IBIS staff and partner organisations working within the development of education.

Main Tasks:
Both positions are responsible for facilitating, motivating & supporting a group of partner organisations in designing, developing and implementing education strategies

Key Duties:

Participate in the Development, design, development, monitoring and evaluation of education programme strategies with various stakeholders including civil society organisations and the Ghana Education Service
Support the implementation of Education programmes through Building, mentoring, managing and expanding relationships with programme partners
Monitor, Research, analyze and document concepts, proposals, activities and results to inform policies and strategies
Plan, develop and conduct capacity building activities for and with partners with particular focus on teacher’s professional development, participatory school governance, and gender equality in education

Required Skills or Experience

The Candidates:

A post graduate qualification of up to a Masters in Social Development/Education or equivalent level of competence
Experience in education and participatory learning approaches, child and adult learning methods
Advocacy at local, regional and national levels
Proficient in French and ability to train others in French (for Tamale post only)
Understand the functioning of Ghana Education Service
Three years experience of using a rights based approach in education
Experience of project planning from project design through to monitoring and evaluation
Able to influence education policy at local, regional and national levels
Able to facilitate individual and group processes
NOTE: Both posts are similar except that applicants for the Tamale post need to be proficient in French as they will assist in the writing of teacher training manuals in French as a medium of instruction. For the Bole post you need to be experienced in Complementary Education.
