The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) seeks a qualified candidate to serve as Finance and Administration Officer for its Ghana Strategy Support Program (GSSP) for a one-year, fixed-term, renewable appointment. The position will be based in Accra, Ghana. The employee will report to the Regional Manager of Administration and Corporate Services on all aspects of finance and administration operations as well as provide direct support to the Country Leader.
Job Responsibilities
The employee will be responsible for carrying out all aspects of the program’s finance and administrative functions, including:
Process transactions and maintain accounting records in accordance with IFPRI and USAID accounting principles and grant requirements
Expenditure reporting and budget monitoring
cash flow management
Facility services/information technology support and coordination
Human Resource coordination
Supervision of support staff
Ensure compliance with all local, IFPRI and USAID regulations and coordinate with IFPRI’s hosting institution (IWMI) as necessary
Required Skills or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Accounting/Finance or equivalent experience.
Five years of financial and administration in field office environment with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
Knowledge of USAID grants/contracts relevant rules, regulations and processes, particularly financial and procurement procedures.
Experience in project accounting, budgets, audit, and other financial activities.
Must be fluent in written and spoken English.
Experience in local payroll function administration (knowledge of Ghana’s employment regulations and compliance requirements).
Strong Microsoft Office software skills and experience with integrated accounting software packages is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to function independently within an established framework.
Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team.
Ability to coordinate operational activities across an office/program environment and with relevant Headquarters operational units.
