In line with our ambitious strategy for growth, IOI Loders Croklaan is expanding its Shea Business in Ghana.

For our Greenfield project, we are looking for an energetic and ambitious Production & Maintenance Manager that will take care of the daily operation of the factory including technical & facility site services.

In this challenging new position, you are responsible for the daily production of the plant, optimal technical & facility procedures and security of the location. You will guarantee the output on time, organize improvements to optimize product quality, yield and costs and make sure the plant is well maintained.

After the team is fully set up, you will manage approximately up to 45 employees (mainly team leaders, process operators and technicians). You will report to the Project Manager Support & Operations Ghana.

Our ideal candidate has a Master’s degree in Engineering, Production Management experience, a process or mechanical engineering background, experience in an international company (or abroad) and is located in the Tema area.


Job Description

Job Title: Production & Maintenance Manager


  • Responsible for the entire production process in close cooperation with the departments of Logistics, Process Engineering and Global Operations for an effective and efficient production and (off)loading process;
  • Responsible for optimizing our ISO management systems in the field of health, quality, safety and environment;
  • Care for quality, HACCP, safety and the environment are paramount;
  • Directly manage and coach the Production Team leaders and indirectly the Process Operators;
  • Manage, develop and execute the maintenance strategy and the maintenance management systems;
  • Ensure an adequate inventory of technical materials;
  • Ensure adequate fault analysis (SORA/FMECA);
  • Take care of a result driven and safe work performances by monitoring compliance with the rules;
  • Ensure appropriately trained staff;
  • Set up and manage the change management system;
  • Take care of installations and buildings by initiation and realization of modifications and improvements to the plants;
  • Set up, implement and improve the autonomous maintenance;
  • Directly responsible for contract management: management of maintenance contracts and the hiring of third parties;
  • Organize annual maintenance stop;
  • Project Management;

We expect from you:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering (food processing technology, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering preferred) or Bachelor + compensating work experience;
  • 5+ years’ work experience in production management, preferably in a food environment;
  • Experience with oils and fats is a strong plus;
  • Knowledge of product safety and general safety in the process industry (HACCP);
  • Understanding cost structures, cost effectiveness awareness;
  • Competent to use MS Word, Outlook and PowerPoint;
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP) is a plus;
  • Driving license;
  • Willing to be available outside office hours in case of urgent matters;
  • Willing to give a long-term commitment to this position;
  • Willing to travel;

Preferred Skills and Competencies:

  • Located in the Tema area (or willing to move to Tema);
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment;
  • Additional languages such as French or Dutch are a plus;
  • Subscribe to a high ethical and professional code of conduct and pledge to represent the company with the highest of professional standards;
