Job Description

Job Title: Finance Assistant

  • Reports to: Finance and Accounting Manager
  • Location:  Accra

Position Summary

The Finance Assistant will support the finance team in Accra to process daily financial request. The Finance Assistant will report to the Finance and Accounting Manager and will be based in Accra.

A two-year commitment for this position is required.

The Finance Assistant will be responsible for performing the following duties:

  • Processing of financial requests including transfers;
  • Making entries of all Expense Returns into Abila on daily basis;
  • Timely processing of expense returns as per the organization’s financial protocols;
  • Management of refunds from advances;
  • Onboarding of new staff on IPA-Ghana Finances under the guidance of the Finance and Accounting Manager;
  • Overseeing the petty-cash managed by the Administrative Assistant;
  • Filling of statutory returns (Social Security, taxes etc);
  • Filling of financial documents;
  • Making Bank deposits;
  • Management of the cash book;
  • Ensuring that all financial requests are in accordance with IPA-Ghana financial policies and procedures;
  • Performing other duties assigned by the Finance and Accounting Manager.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Must have a first degree in accounting or its equivalent from a reputable institution
  • Knowledge in Sage (Abila) accounting software is preferred
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must have an eye for details and be trustworthy
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines in multiple tasking environment
  • Should be fluent in English
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Ability to work with people with diverse backgrounds including multi-national
