Job Description
The West Africa Regional Office of ACDI/VOCA based in Accra Ghana, is seeking two IT Officers to be based in Accra and Tamale with frequent travels to other regions.
Responsibilities Include:
Assist with start-up and set up of new sub-offices including oversight of installation of LAN lines, enrollment of Internet service provider, set up of the Internet access;
- Work closely with the Chief Operations Manager in establishing/implementing ICT standards and guidelines for ACDI/VOCA Ghana Information Technology (IT) environment in order to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of company computing resources;
- Provide first level of troubleshooting for system wide Computer and IT problems;
- Complete basic checks and system reviews for server and CGnet e-mail and Internet services;
- Assist with software problems or failures on individual individual computers;
- Provide instructions on advanced software actions (QuickBooks, Word, Excel, Power Point, Access and Other);
- Complete routine maintenance of CIT;
- Coordinate cleaning and other network to ensure proper operation of the hardware;
- Update Norton Antivirus and MS operating systems for recommended schedule;
- Add software to individual computers as required;
- Carryout service and maintenance of Local Network, Servers, Exchange 5.5 Server, Backup Exec 9.1 Server, Microsoft Office 2000 desktop systems; Assess and recommend new technologies for office LAN and Backup;
- Assist in the evaluation of Performa for the purchase of software
Required Skills or Experience
- Advanced diploma or bachelor’s degree in computer-related field/Information Technology from an accredited institution
- Minimum 3 years equivalent work experience with computer related work including user support/Help desk in a busy ICT management environment
- Strong skills in Word, Excel, Outlook and the Internet
- Excellent presentation skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organization; maturity and ability to work in difficult environment;
- Willingness to travel regularly within Ghana
- Professional and friendly communication style, with the ability to field calls from a diverse group of staff
