The Mineral Resources Department at Damang Gold Mine is seeking to employ an experienced, competent and self-motivated Section Mine Geologist. Reporting to the Chief Mine Geologist, the incumbent will oversee the work of a team of geologists, and be responsible for the timely delivery of geological grade control models for the mining and planning process, as well as good geological control of the mining of the paleoplacer and hydrothermal pits
- Ensuring world class safety standards are maintained in the Geology department
- Planning, scheduling and implementation of timely and effective grade control programs
- Production tracking, reporting and stockpile management
- Checking and ensuring that all ore mark-ups and rip lines are completed according to schedule
- Control the grade control processes to ensure that cost is minimized without compromising data quality
- Ensuring that appropriate drill densities are employed to generate robust models and extensions to existing resources
- Providing input as required for the mine planning
- Ensuring mining activities conform to the current pit designs and report any required actions to the Chief Mine Geologist
- Ensure pit mapping of the various pits
- Training and development of junior staff and geologist

Job Qualifications:
- BSc. (Hons) in Geology or Geological Engineering, from an accredited university
- Have a minimum of four years geological experience in large multiple open pit operations
- Have sound technical understanding of hydrothermal and palaeoplacer gold ore systems and structural geology
- Have a high standard of work
- Have strong oral and written communication skills in English
- Hold a valid Ghanaian Driving License
- A proven track record together with a demonstrated technical proficiency in:
- Computer based resource modeling, including data base maintenance and administration of drilling/sampling/assay data, QA/QC, geological constraint definition, statistical treatment of data and grade estimation
- Use of recognized mining software packages with respect to 3D mineral resource modeling, particularly Datamine, Mine Sight, and acQuire
- Ability to liaise with other mine departments, particularly mine-planning and survey
- Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as good people management ability
- Knowledge of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act
- It will be advantageous if candidates have:
- A post-graduate qualification in Geology or Geological Engineering would be highly regarded
