Job Description

Location: Ghana, West Africa with travel as required to the Esaase Project site and the engineering consultant’s office in Perth, Australia and various locations as and when required. Base location is either Vancouver, BC and/or Ghana depending upon home location of candidate.

Project: Esaase Gold Project, Ghana, West Africa

Senior Mining Engineer will work as part of a multi-disciplined owner’s development team taking the lead role in overseeing all aspects of an open pit mine development for the Esaase Gold Project
The project is currently in the final stage of a Pre-Feasibility study with a Feasibility Study initiated in parallel. The Senior Mining Engineer will oversee and take the lead role and ownership of all aspects associated with bringing the open pit mine development into production
During the Feasibility study phase of the project the Senior Mining Engineer will spend a considerable amount of time in Perth working closely with the consulting engineers currently developing the detailed mine plan, schedule and costs
The role will suite an experienced mining engineer with technical and analytical skills and strong interpersonal skills and proven international experience
Provide input to the development and implementation of the overall project execution strategy required to bring the mine into production
Deliver work on time and on budget to the highest professional standards
Introduce new methods and procedures, which will optimize productivity
Provide direction and input in the development and submission of mining, environmental regulatory permitting requirements
Provide leadership and support to the Project Development team

Required Skills or Experience

15+ years experience in mine engineering, with strong background in open pit mine development, planning and operations
Computer literate (MS Office) and solid background in mining planning software such as xpac, xact, Vulcan, Micromine, Whittle, or Mine 2-4D including experience in advanced strategic mine planning and scheduling Experience in project financial evaluation and cost modeling
Experience in scoping, trade off and feasibility studies
Knowledge of relevant safety and health standards
Strong report writing skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Knowledge of OHS Act knowledge of Mine Health & Safety Act
Possession of Mine Superintendent or Mine Captain Certificates of Competency issued by the Inspectorate Division of the Ghana Minerals Commission would be an advantage
Corporate Membership of the Ghana Institution of Engineers would be an added advantage
Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Mining engineering
