Job Description
The successful candidate will report to the Africa Health, Safety and Loss Prevention Regional Director and will design and manage a sustainable HSLP System at the Ahafo mine
Develop and maintain Health, Safety and Loss Control Management programs designed to prevent accidental harm to employees, property, and processes
Continued development of the risk-based HSLP management system framework consistent with the Newmont HSLP Policy, OHSAS 18001 and management practices to which Newmont has committed
Ensure surface and underground fire and safety protection systems are maintained
Analyze data from accident investigations, observations, inspections and other sources to assure management that programs are working as intended
Monitor the Site’s Occupational Medical Services

Required Skills or Experience
A minimum of a degree in Health, Safety, or Loss Prevention or related field. Master’s or Post Graduate Diploma is a plus
At least ten years work experience in the Occupational Health and Safety field in heavy industry such as mining, manufacturing, construction, oil & gas
Operating knowledge of the ISO 18001 & 14001 systems
Possess evidence of professional experience and qualifications through certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygiene Professional (CIH), Certified Hazard Control Manager (CHCM), Accredited Safety Auditor (ASA), etc
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
