Reports to: Deputy Regional Director
Location: Ghana (but with regional remit)

The Regional Programme Officer (Design &Quality Assurance) or RPO (DQA) provides strategic leadership in programme design and proposal writing, as well as in the, management and assessment of all training and continuous learning of Programme Managers, Project Assistants, Project Coordinator, Trainers, and Coaches/Leaders.

  • The position is based in the Accra, Ghana office but has regional remit covering Rwanda, Mali, Liberia and Benin. It supports programme development and implementation, to ensure that Right To Play (RTP)’s programme/projects have a significant impact; and supports the Country Offices in the development of programme strategies appropriate for the specific environments in which RTP works
  • She/he works with a team of professionals focused on the project design, quality training assurance, and partner/coaches certification that effectively ensures that systems and people are in place to ensure the proper management of training activities
  • The RPO (DQA) supports the CO to run training programmes for staff and partners; conducts needs assessments; helps institute mechanisms to improve the delivery training services; design/adapt and implement new tools, processes, and programmes; report with recommendations for improvement; and to create a larger pool of effectively trained RTP staff, volunteers, coaches, trainers, teachers and leaders

The RPO (DQA) reports to the Deputy Regional Director of WAFA and works with the Regional M&E Officer 

Required Skills or Experience

  • A Master’s degree in disciplines relevant to RTP focus areas (education, sports, play, health/HIV, etc) or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 5-7 years training, training of trainers, and adult education certification experience
  • Understanding of humanitarian and development issues
  • Significant work experience with international NGOs and/or non-profit organisations
  • Familiarity with children, play and sports issues
  • Programme design and proposal development
  • Extensive experience using non-formal, participatory, experiential education techniques
  • Experience conducting observation and assessment visits
  • Experience in curriculum development
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure meeting deadlines in a fast paced fluid environment
  • Superior organisational skills and able to multi-task on a constant basis
  • Creative and flexible with good problem solving skills
  • Approachable and friendly personality
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Fluency in English and French (written and verbal)
