Job Description

The Role:
This is a managerial position and job holder will have responsibility for a range of functions including Corporate Communications (internal and external), Media/Public Relations, Events Management, Corporate Social Responsibility, as well as developing/building MBG’s Marketing/Brand strategy to create a unique/dynamic corporate identity in support of the Bank’s vision

Key Reponsibilities include:

Work on the planning, development and direct implementation of Corporate Affairs strategies and policies to build/enhance Merchant Bank’s reputation
Develop and execute communication plans (both internal and external) including publications to ensure relevant information is effectively cascaded to all constituents and stakeholders both internal and external
Implement proactive communication strategies for MBG’s events/activities, achievements, community and social partnerships; ensuring that all corporate events are leveraged to provide networking & promotional opportunities for the business
Work with the senior team to plan and coordinate MBG’s branding activities and implement the bank’s corporate advertising strategy
Develop and implement strategy for the effective management of MBG’s website
Advice management on corporate communication and media/stakeholder relations

Required Skills or Experience


The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications/competencies:

First Degree or equivalent professional qualification with post graduate training in Public Relations or Communications with 8 years relevant experience
Thorough understanding of communication management techniques and principles with proven planning and organisational skills
Ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with internal andexternal stakeholders and work effectively with all categories of employees
Considerable knowledge and understanding of the operations of the Media Houses
Excellent knowledge/understanding of the operations of the Media Houses
Excellent knowledge/understanding of brand and events management with good networking and influencing skills
Good managerial, interpersonal, communication (oral/written), presentation and editorial skills
