Job Description

Location: Head Office
Working Environment: Office based with occasional travels to the Regions/Districts

Responsible to the Chief Executive for the image building, image enhancement and coporate image development of the Commission. He/she directs and performs advisory work in connection with the public relations programme of the Commission, including extensive contacts with private and public agencies, and the departmental heads

Monitor all matters affecting the Commission in the print media, radio, television and by the public
Educate the public through television, radio on the Commission activities and ensure correct reportage
Arrange briefings for the Commission’s staff
Plan and execute strategies that contribute to the enhancement of the Commission’s image
Build a strong relationship with the media and other stakeholder groups to deliver a positive image of the Commission
Send adverts and publications to the media for publishing
Prepare speeches/presentations for the Chief Executive, where necessary
Contact media houses and selected agencies to conduct investigations and follow up requests directed by the Chief Executive
Liaise with the directors and regional heads to ascertain reported matters and advise the Chief Executive
Promote good corporate image of the Commission
Prepare and submit annual reports
Scan through newspapers for publications and issues concerning the Commission and bring to the attention of the Chief executive
Maintain an open relationship between the media and the Commission by ensuring free flow of information between the Commission and the media
Develop programmes to assist the Commission carry out its social responsibilities
Oversee the organisation of seminars, conferences and workshops
Make travel documentation, accomodation and reception arrangements for personnel and guests of the Commission
Deal with all protocol issues of the Commission
Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Superior
Required Skills or Experience

A Minimum of Bachelor Degree in Communication with 6 years experience in practice or Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication from a recognised University with a minimum of 3 years relevant working experience is required
Very good interpersonal relationship and effective in dealing with people and colleagues
Ability to work under pressure and with minimum or no supervision
Good communication skills both orally and written
Experience in media work
Computer Literacy Skills
Team Player
Willingess to travel at short notice
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to make public presentations
High integrity and confidentiality
Must be self-disciplined and self-motivated
Must be fair and firm
