Job Description

The Ministry of Employment and Social Welfare (MESW) is implementing a Government of Ghana national initiative to eliminate the worst forms of child labour in the cocoa sector through the National Programme for the Elimination of Worst Forms of Child Labour in Cocoa (NPECLC):

Coordinate and monitor field and remediation activities leading to the elimination of child labour in cocoa growing communities
Supervise and monitor sub-project agreements and action plans of District Assemblies, NGOs, CBOs and partner organizations within the framework of the National Programme
Coordinate the development and implementation of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) programmes in cocoa production processes involving children
Coordinate the development and implementation of interventions that emphasize education and vocational training
Propose and implement labour saving technologies leading to elimination of child labour in cocoa production
Support and strengthen district and community Child Protection Communities
Prepare relevant periodic, financial and technical reports
Any other duties assigned

Required Skills or Experience

Advertisement

A minimum of first degree in Social/Behavioural Sciences or Social Work
A master’s degree will be an advantage
A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible and relevant professional work experience
Ability to travel to cocoa growing areas on a regular basis
Fluency in at least one local language spoken in cocoa growing areas in Ghana
Experience in working directly with communities
Proven project Planning and Management skills, including ability to prepare Reports and Proposals
Good interpersonal and Communication skills, including usage of Computer application programmes
Ability to work with minimum supervision
Ability to work long hours and manage work pressure
