Ministry Of Food & Agriculture: Accounts officer Job

The Government of Ghana has received funding from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) towards the cost of implementing the Root and Tuber Improvement and Marketing Programme (RTIMP). The programme is expected to be implemented across 60 districts commencing in Ghana.

Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals for the above stated position in the Root and Tuber Improvement and Marketing Programme of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture. The Accounts Officer would assist the Programme Financial Controller in the management of the programme finances.

Job Responsibilities:
The Accounts Officer shall assist in the following:

Preparation of Withdrawal Applications for reimbursement
Ensuring that supporting documents of Withdrawal Applications are properly filed and archived
Monitoring of Government of Ghana Funds from Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning
Preparation and updating of Fixed Assets Register and Contracts Register
Ensuring that statutory payments (Social Security and PAYE) are paid accurately and on time
Monitoring of disbursements to Zone, District Agricultural Development Units (DADUs), Municipal Agricultural Development Units (MADUs), Regional Agricultural Development Units (RADUs); Research Institutes and Stations, and other implementing partners
Follow up with Zones and implementing partners to ensure that expenditure returns are submitted on time and are properly analyzed, posted and archived
Updating contributions due beneficiaries at end of every month
Any other tasks that may be assigned by the Financial Controller; and
Carry out duties that may be assigned by the National Programme Coordinator
Remuneration: Competitive salary
Job Location: Programme Coordination Office, Kumasi
Job Duration: One (1) year renewable yearly based on performance

Required Skills or Experience

BSc. (Admin) Accounting Major, BSc. Accounting with computing or B.Com or Level 11 CA (Ghana), Level 11, ACCA or equivalent
Should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
Must possess analytical skills
Must be proficient in English Language, both written and oral
Must have at least four (4) year post-qualification experience
Experience in donor-funded project financial procedures will be distinct advantage
