Established in 2004 as an autonomous focal point of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) in Ghana, the National African Peer Review Mechanism Governing Council (NAPRM – GC) is mandated to implement the APRM as Africa’s ground breaking initiative in governance. The Secretariat of the NAPRM-GC, which is headed by an Executive Secretary, is the technical or operational arm of the Governing Council.

Job Description:

The Governing Council is seeking to employ a dynamic and highly motivated Executive Secretary who is flexible and proactive

Candidates are expected to have:

  • A strong understanding and practical knowledge of African governance issues and challenges, in particular Ghanaian political, economic and social issues, as well as strong capacity to analyse critical situations from the perspective of stakeholders and translate strategic thinking into implementation
  • Proven track record of 8 years of experience in progressively senior postions and significant professional experience in managerial positions
  • High level of leadership experience in a context of very diverse stakeholders, such as government, development partners, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the APRM strategic partners-Economic Commission of Africa, United Nations Development Programme and the African Development Bank
  • Interested candidates must have an advanced university degree, preferably Masters or PhD in Development Studies, Social Sciences or related fields and research experience
