Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Regional Sports Development Officers.
Purpose:
- Develop sports in the region
- Implement sports policy in the region
- Organise, promote and manage social and competitive sports resulting in the promotion of health fitness, recreation, national cohesion and professionalism
- Establish amateur and professional sports associations in the region
- Implement sport policies in the region
- Help provide and maintain sports centres in the region
- Co-ordinate all sporting activities in the region
- Supervise sporting activities at the district level
- Help in increasing employment opportunities for the youth through sporting activities
- Assist in tackling anti-social behaviour and reducing crime through sports
- Put in place measures to unearth new talents in sports at the regional level
- Provide overall direction and supervision of staff
- Ensure the preparation of annual report and budget for the region
- Perform other duties that may be assigned by the Director General
Required Skills or Experience
- Must have a minimum of a good first degree in Physical Education or related fields
- A Masters Degree in any related field will be an added advantage
- A minimum of eight (8) years post qualification experience; three (2) of which must be in managerial position
- Must have good leadership and organisational skills
- Must be self motivated and results oriented
Competences:
- Good knowledge in one or several sports disciplines is required
- Ability to think through problems and solve them
- Ability to monitor, control and supervise
