Newmont Ghana Gold Limited a subsidiary of Newmont Mining Corporation, one of the World’s largest gold mining companies.

 

1. Construction Superintendent (Civil) – Ahafo Mine

The successful candidate will report to the Operations Services Manager. She/he will develop and execute minor capital projects to support the Ahafo Operations department.

Essential Duties:

  • Coordinate, plan and schedule construction project activities
  • Develop and prepare the business cases for projects, including the formal written requests for capital funding through AFE
  • Perform field engineering and construction management functions
  • Develop proposal documentation for engineering and construction bidding purposes and support contract administration processes for Civil works
  • Manage internal and external project relations

Required Skills or Experience

  • A degree in Civil Engineering, or related field, with a minimum of 10 years of working experience in the engineering and construction field, preferably in the mining and minerals processing industry
  • Project management, project engineering and construction experience is required
  • Experience in tailing dam construction is a plus
  • Proven capability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Good interpersonal and communications skills
  • Proficiency with MS Project or Primavera and AutoCAD
2. Auxiliary Equipment Mechanic – Ahafo Mine

The successful candidate will report to the Support Equipment Maintenance Supervisor. She/he will be responsible for providing service and mechanical maintenance for the Auxiliary Equipment Fleet.

Essential Duties:

  • Provide service and mechanical maintenance for the Auxiliary Equipment Fleet
  • Recommend corrective maintenance, including diagnostics, troubleshooting and the implementation of associated maintenance and repair processes
  • Open and close work orders, including all relevant information related to the job performed
  • Effectively operate 2-way radio, telephones and other communication devices

Required Skills or Experience

  • Formal technical training with three years working experience
  • Six years’ working experience on similar duties
  • Advanced knowledge experience in hydraulic systems maintenance, including hydraulic schematics, diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • Basic knowledge in automotive electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • Self-driven and a good team player
3. Regional Manager, Change Capability – Ahafo Mine

The successful candidate will report to the Regional Manager, Organizational Effectiveness She/he will be responsible for improving the organizational effectiveness and employee engagement globally through targeted strategies and interventions.

Essential Duties:

  • Provide project leadership in the area of change management
  • Accountable for the development and execution of change management plans
  • Develop and implement change management plan/tactics to engage stakeholders at all levels to share a common vision
  • Work with Change Leads to define and implement change management and communications activities, messages
  • Provide guidance and ensure consistency of client group’s messaging globally

Required Skills or Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of work experience
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of work experience, preferably in the extractive industry and direct change management experience
  • Proven experience leading global and decentralized organizations to usher in significant culture change
  • Certification and experience using multiple change management methodologies
  • High level of energy, sense of urgency, and passion for building personal and organizational change capability
4. Community Development Officer, Health – Ahafo Mine

The successful candidate will report to the Community Development Superintendent-Health. She/he will assist with the coordination of all health interventions at the workplace and in the near mine communities, employees and other stakeholders.

Essential Duties:

  • Educate and counsel employees and contractors on STIs/HIV/AIDS/TB/Malaria as well as promote employee well being
  • Educate employees and contractors about proper use of condoms/bed net use according to a scheduled program and informal discussions
  • Support the planning and training of workplace and community based volunteers
  • Collect, input and analyze data from Peer Educators/Community Based agents’ activity
  • Liaise with the Learning and Development department to conduct inductions and safety meetings on STIs/HIV/AIDS

Required Skills or Experience

  • A degree in Nursing/Public Health or in the Social Science with 5 years post qualification experience
  • Good counseling, analytical, communication, community relations skills
  • Extensive experience in dealing with people in a cross-cultural environment
  • Ability to be empathetic to sensitive community issues
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, a must
  • Must be fluent in Twi and English and have a good understanding of local culture
5. Drill Supervisor – Akyem Project

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising all drilling programs at various stages of exploration, as well as different drilling equipment and drilling types.

Essential Duties:

  • Supervise the construction of adequate safe drill access and pads
  • Maintain adequate tracking system for drill meters and drill additives,
  • Check and coordinate with supervisor to monitor invoice and payments and keep track of drilling expenses in line with approved budgets
  • Prepare comprehensive report for Senior Management
  • Ensure completed drill sites are rehabilitated in good time

Required Skills or Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in the Physical Sciences or related field, with knowledge of drilling principles, drill meterage and invoice payment tracking methods
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of industry experience in a mining or exploration environment
  • Ability to operate a phone and radio with sufficient voice and hearing to carry on a conversation
  • Ability to lift and carry up to lbs of equipment for distances up to five (5) miles (8 kilometers)
6. Project Exploration Geologist – Akyem Project

The successful candidate will supervise and perform moderate, complex geology, geophysical and geochemistry duties related to specific phases of larger projects.

Essential Duties:

  • Prepare comprehensive reports for review by senior management, joint venture partners and regulatory agencies
  • Participate in exploration, development, and mine geology property reviews and acquisitions
  • Gather, compile and analyze production, development and/or exploration data and results
  • Design geochemical surveys to address exploration questions, including provisions for staffing, equipment, andquality control
  • Analyze and interpret geochemical data resulting in report

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Geosciences or related field with knowledge of geological principles
  • Must have 3 to 5 years of industry experience in a mining or exploration environment

  • Able to hold/operate a phone and radio with sufficient voice and hearing to carry on a conversation
