Job Description

The successful candidate will reprot to the Senior Mining Engineer and responsible for carrying out department functions including short term mine design and scheduling, project analysis, ore control, reconciliation, geotechnical data acquisition, mining engineering systems analysis and design, and preparation of reports

Understand how Drill and Blast fits in with mine planning and sequencing
Monitor and interpret signature shots for vibration analysis and develop a controlled blasting program to minimize damage to infrastructure
Understand the effects of fragmentation in downstream processes (mill throughput), and understand the impacts of pattern/shot design on total drill and blasting costs
Understand burden/spacing relationships and their applications in which to optimize total pattern design, explosives and fragmentation with respect to ground conditions

Required Skills or Experience

A Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering or related discipline
At least two years experience in an open pit or underground mine and must have completed National Service
Excellent computer skills couple with good written and spoken English
Possess requisite certificate relating to the profession (e.g. Blasting Certificates)
