Newmont Ghana Gold Limited, a core operating district of Newmont Mining Corporation which is one of the world’s largest gold, mining companies.

Job Description

The successful candidate will report to the Senior Geologist 2 and will provide leadership role in the Development, Mining and/or Exploration team in prospect evaluation and acquisition, project analysis, project development and mine support, with objective of discovering new economic gold resources to extend mine life and to support mining operations.

Essential Duties:

Plan and conduct regional exploration programs
Provide recommendations on acquisition/disposal of tenure and assist with budget preparation
Generate new exploration concepts and ideas building on existing knowledge
Act as a team leader encouraging vision, new ideas, high morale, teamwork and communication with other departments
Supervise your team in execution of complex, multiphase and proactive programs in line with Corporate Newmont goals.

Required Skills or Experience

Technical Skills, Education/Training & Experience:
At least Bachelor of degree in Geology or an acceptable alternate qualification
A minimum of 8 years experience in exploration and development or mining
Must have computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet and database management
Possess advanced abilities in mapping, sampling drill planning, drilling and 3D geological interpretation
Ability to communicate advanced level exploration concepts using integration of geology, geochem, metallurgy and geophysics often with applied economic criteria
An understanding of fundamentals relating to mining and metallurgy methods and costs
