Job Objective
The position is responsible for the entire accounting function of the Company including Forecasting, Planning and Budgeting. The job involves liaising effectively with industry regulators and ensuring that their financial and other information requests are met promptly. There is a definite preference for female candidates.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Maintaining and updating the company’s books of accounts
· You will ensure that receipts, invoices and other relevant documents are maintained to support all financial transactions
· Review and approve expenditures for payment
· Ensure that complete, accurate, and up-to-date accounting records are maintained at all times to support the preparation of reliable financial statements
· Supervise the preparation of monthly bank reconciliation statements
· Payroll processing and the filing of statutory returns
· Supervise monthly close processes
· Ensure that the fixed assets register is updated at all times with all equipment purchases
· Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and guidelines
· Assist in monitoring, evaluating and implementing internal control processes and procedures
· Preparing annual financial statements and monthly performance reports
· Liaising with external auditors for the conduct of financial statement audits
Educational Requirements and Work Experience
· A first degree in Accounting or any other relevant discipline from a recognized university
· A minimum of 6 years relevant work experience. Big 4 experience is an added advantage
· Must be a chartered accountant with any of the professional accounting bodies – ACCA, ICA, CIMA
· The applicant must be proficient in the use of MS office suite – especially Excel
· Must have experience in the use of an accounting package. Knowledge of Sage Pastel will be a plus
· Self-driven, and ability to work effectively under pressure
