Omega Schools is building chain of low cost private schools. Inspired by the work of Newcastle University’s Professor James Tooley, Omega is bringing to low-income families the benefits of innovative learning methods, teacher training and mentoring. Currently with four schools, we will expand to ten schools by the end of the year, thereafter going to scale.
Job Description
The Director of Teaching and Learning will develop the educational model to transform educational opportunities for children in low income communities.
Reporting directly to the Company’s CEO, the Director of Teaching and Learning will:
Develop, trail and evaluate curriculum, assessment, materials and lesson plans
Develop, trail and evaluate teacher training, mentoring and quality control materials
Lead the teacher training, mentoring and quality monitoring effort
Develop, trail and evaluate technological methods to enhance children’s learning
Collect, analyse and act upon data on children’s understanding and motivation, using the data to focus on children, teachers and schools within the chain that need attention
Required Skills or Experience
The person must be a passionate, committed, energetic educationalist with at least five year’s experience in teacher training, curriculum development, assessment and/or educational research
