Job Description

Job Title: GRANTS OFFICER – KUMASI

JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI), a leader in global health, is currently recruiting for a Grants Officer for a recently awarded USAID-funded five year Strengthening the Care Continuum Project in Ghana. The overall goal of the project is to improve the capacity of the Government of Ghana (GOG) and its partners to provide quality and comprehensive HIV services for key populations and people living with HIV/AIDS using a coordinated and sustainable approach. This is a full-time position based in Kumasi, Ghana. The Grants Officer reports to the Grants Manager in Accra.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Grants Manager in maintaining a grants management system for distribution of project grants;
  • Assist the Grants Manager in issuing and managing the grants while following the appropriate USAID and JSI policies and procedures;
  • With support from the Grants Manager, establish the grant application evaluation committees and evaluate grant applications;
  • Manage grants provided by the project as assigned by the Grants Manager; monitor all phases of award, including assessment of technical progress, deliverables and performance;
  • Ensure grant compliance with USAID regulations;
  • Review all reimbursement requests for cost allowability;
  • Prepare draft grant modifications as needed;
  • Assist the Grants Manager with maintenance of the Grants Management Database and ensure it is updated;
  • Other duties as assigned by the Grants Manager or Director of Finance and Operations.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Bachelors-level education/training or equivalent experience in Finance and Business Management or related technical fields.
  • At least 5 years of experience in administration of grants, with experience in health program grants preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills are highly desirable, as is thorough knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Access).
  • Strong English communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Current residence in Kumasi a plus.
