Perseus Mining is a dual listed (Australia, Toronto) gold miner and explorer focused on the West African region. Perseus Mining (Ghana) Limited (PMGL) has recently commissioned the world-class Edikan gold project in the Western Region of Ghana.

Edikan Gold Mine (EGM) has a current mining reserve of 3.3M oz of gold from a resource base of 4.3M oz. The Edikan processing facility has been designed as a 5.5Mtpa processing facility with the ability to expand this to 8Mtpa in the future. The plant is capable of producing at a rate of 220-270,000oz gold

Job Title: Mining Manager

Responsibilities:

•   Promote and comply with PMGL Occupational Health & Safely Policy.
•   Ensure that the requirements for effective OH&S management and compliance are clearly communicated and understood by direct reports and all personnel operating in the Mine (employees, contractors and other personnel)
•   Ensure through own personal behaviour absolute compliance with OH&S requirements, setting an example to all employees and contractors regarding their expected standards of compliance with OH&S requirements.
•   Ensure incident prevention and the achievement of tasks in an environmentally sustainable manner.
•   Promote and comply with PMGL Community Relations policy.
•   Maintain and develop relationships with stakeholders in mining activities consistent with the Company Community Relations Policies.
•   Develop objectives for sharing common infrastructure and support services across the site and cascade this throughout function.
•   Ensure that required standards of leadership are provided to the
•   Contractor and PMGL mining team through the following:
•   Appropriate assignment of task and activity is provided to ensure the establishment of performance criteria expectations for the individual or team of what is to be achieved in terms of Quantity, Quality, Resources and Timeframe.
•   Provide direction with appropriate discretion levels set as to the method and processes to be     used throughout the contractor operation
•   Follow up and monitor actual performance against planned performance of direct reports and the contractor team
•   Provide feedback to reinforce good performance and positive behaviours and communicate and identify improvable performance and behaviour
•   Coach and support personnel in order to enhance their performance and the outcomes of the team
•   Communicate information accurately, in a timely manner and in the appropriate format
•   Contribute to the definition of key operational and performance parameters for all areas of responsibility- throughout the Mine. Define the processes for theachievement of these parameters. These should include but not be limited to:
•   Identification of the current performance
•   Definition of the gap between current and required performance Development of plans to deliver the required performance
•   Identification of resources internal and external identification of lime frames
•   Definition of capital requirements, support and technical input
•   Responsible for the implementation of the processes throughout the Mine for holding contractor accountable for delivery of performance to agreed standards.
•   Responsible for ensuring compliance with the processes for delivering a clear commercial basis for all decisions and actions taken
•   Responsible for providing input into the development of the processes, systems, tools and competencies and learn the required activities to ensure that effective problem definition and problem solving outcomes are delivered for all areas of accountability.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or its equivalent
•   Mine Managers Certificate of Competency

Skills and Experience Required

•   At least 5 years’ experience at Managerial level, similar position or above in major metalliferous or precious metal open pit mining operations.
•   At least 10 years’ experience in open pit production in a gold mining operations with a leadership of a multi-disciplinary mining team in a medium to large open pit operation
•   Experience in managing costs and budgeting
•   High level of understanding of all relevant legislation affecting the employment and safety of persons in the mining industry in Ghana.

Job Title 2: Operations Manager

Responsibilities

•   Ensure operations departments operate within occupational health and safetypolicies and procedures are in line with PMGL OHS Management systems and standards.
•   Ensure all operations department activities and procedures adhere to Ghanaian Mining Regulations (2012),
•   Ensure operations department operate within environmental management action plans and that direct reports conveyed to their staffs and contractors,
•   Actively engage with PMGL’s Social Development to ensure all compensation payments are in place prior to mine projects works commencing.
•   Develop plan to enhance the skills base of direct reports where required including upgrading of any statutory requirements.
•   Coordinate mining and mine projects teams to execute the production related strategic actions in the mine to meet overall Edikan Mine Business Plan/Annual Budgets.
•   Ensure direct reports are clear about their roles and responsibilities and how their performance will be assessed and managed through the development of position descriptions and KPI’s
•   Assist the GM to assess critical areas of the operations area to optimise performance and ensure personnel are ensuring best practice and performance.
•   Ensure production goals including but not limited to ounce production and cost are achieved in line with business objectives and budgets for the mine by optimising mineral resource utilisation, short term planning and ore extraction processes
•   Ensure that the operations departments are adequately staffed to achieve the set goals for the operation and have localisation and succession plans in place to ensure sustainability.
•   Develop the operations team both professionally and personally by managing individual performance, providing relevant training, having communication systems in place and encouraging participation in social and community projects.
•   Coordinate Mine Projects Management for the operation to achieve set targets and desired quality implementation.
•   Ensure that the operations departments perform at a level that meets the Safety, Health and Environmental objectives of the business.
•   Any other work as agreed or directed by the GM or his designate.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering.
•   Ghanaian Mine Managers Statutory Certificate (or equivalent).

•   Over 15 years in open pit mining operations with precious metal ore body experience.

Job Title: Security Manager

Responsibilities

•   Coordinate all safety matters within Security department and ensure personnel adopt best Safety practices.
•   Organise periodic safety meetings to educate staff and maintain a safe working environment and practices in the department.
•   Coordinate with the Social Development Department (SDD)  to-
•   Ensure overall peaceful relations and coexistence with all communities in and around the mining lease area through the use of dialogue and tactful means to resolve community related challenges.
•   Support the SDD in any other tasks that needs input from the Security department.
•   Support the Environment Department by observing and enforcing PMGL environment policies and procedures and any other such tasks in order to achieveour corporate values of Caring.
•   Develop and establish PMGL security operating concepts in line with national security requirements and international best practices.
•   Oversee Security Contractor on operational deployment to ward of potential intruders and prevent illegal mining activities.
•   Maintain general  law and order around the mine site with internal security resources and support of national security agencies.
•   Responsible for Management of Access Control & CCTV monitoring systems.
•   Prepare routine operational reports and budget estimates for seniormanagement.
•   Provide leadership and direction to the Security department in order to guarantee a secure and stable work environment through deployment, supervision, training and motivation of the team members.
•   Develop, implement and monitor security policies, plans and procedures to ensure business continuity and profitability.
•   Define and identify PMGL security requirements and operational security planning.
•   Work in close collaboration with national security agencies to obtain maximum operational support and stable operations.
•   Prepare security reports to the General Manager to facilitate understanding and decision-making.
•   Advice the General Manager on all Security issues as it relates to national security arrangements.
•   Perform any other related duties assigned by the General Manager.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   University degree or higher education courses in Security/Risk
•   Management, Justice & Criminology, International Law, Military Studies etc.
•   Military or Police Academy degrees/diplomas in Security Management

Skills and Experience Required

•   Ten (10) years hands-on-progressively responsible experience in security management with military, police, intelligence or industrial organisations
•   Five (5) years’ experience in a similar position
•   High sense of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
•   Team player and works collaboratively with others to achieve organisational goals.
•   Certification and membership of national or international security associations/institution is an advantage.
