Job Description
The position reports directly to the Finance Manager:
Financial Reporting: Country annual budget, year-end report, update community advance register, provide commentary on all other financial reports, review log book and/or sub ledger for all advances, deposits and prepaid expenses, review monthly bank reconciliation
Budget Monitoring: Country Office and Southern sector offices operation budgets
Staff Payroll: Prepare national staff’s payroll, PAYE tax and SSF contribution, prepare DA cheque for all International staff
General Ledger (GL): Undertake all activities required in the GL, analyse GL’s balance especially expenses accounts after closing and maintain a good filing for all GL reports
Payments: Prepare payment list base on the cash forecast approved by regional offices, review all voucher and cheques according to laid down procedures
Others: Review, analyse and sort out any queries of liquidation of advance reports and reimbursement reports, undertake support visits to field offices, supervise and manage accounts controller and accounts assistant
Required Skills or Experience
University first degree in Accounting or equivalent plus at least ICA (Ghana), ACCA or CIMA level 2 and demonstrated evidence of preparation for final part
At least 5 years experience in finance and accounting roles in a reputation organisation
Experience in the application and administration of the relevant income tax laws
Conversant with the use of an accounting software
Ability to work with minimum supervision
Skills:
Advanced leadership & supervisory skills; very good planning skills; good knowledge of development work and project management; good people management skills; strategic planning & management skills and work with minimum supervision
