Background:
ProMPT is a project funded by the United States Government’s President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), and manages by University Research Co. (URC), in collaboration with the Malaria Consortium and Population Council. The project aims to reduce malaria morbidty and mortality nationwide with a focus on children under 5 and pregnant women. The programme provides support to the National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP) of Ghana

Job Description

Assignment Length: Eight months renewable by mutual agreement and availability of funds
Starting Salary: Depending on qualification and experience

Functional relationships:

  • Works under the direction and supervision of the Finance manager
  • Works closely with other members of the Finance & Administrative staff
  • Collaborates and responds to requests from other members of the URC Ghana team

Job Summary:
The Accounting Clerk will, under the direction and with the assistance of the Finance Manager, review and process expense reports, collate accounting documentation, process receipts and bank deposits, and file accounting paperwork

  • Financial duties
  • The Accounting Clerk, under direction of the Finance Manager, will review and and process travel expense report statements in a timely and accurate manner
  • The accounting Clerk will prepare accounting documentation according to USAID and URC rules and regulations
  • Work with the Finance Manager to prepare monthly fields vouchers that are part of the monthly financial reports
  • He/She will manage bank deposits and collection of bank statements and receipts from vendors
  • Manage the issuance of checks and travel advance request and payments
  • Assist the Finance Manager in any other official tasks that may be assigned from time-to-time

Required Skills or Experience

 

  • Formal training in accounting desirable
  • 1-2 years experience in accounting spreadsheets, USAID programmes
  • Excellent teamwork skills and good leadership abilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Attention to detail, ability to prioritize, and manage multiple tasks
