To support the Regional Head of Sustainability Africa (RHSA), by effectively and efficiently working with both internal and external stakeholders to deliver the Bank’s Sustainability agenda and initiatives for the Africa Region,
As a key member of the Southern Africa team, to efficiently and effectively support the CA function in Southern Africa by ensuring that the Bank’s agenda in the areas of Public Affairs, Internal and External Communications, Sustainability and Issues Management are well implemented in order to support staff engagement, profile the Bank as a market leader, to build on its image and profile and to maintain good relations with all stakeholders.

Qualifications & Skills

• Fluency in Portuguese very preferable
Proven experience of managing NGO relationships;
• Existing network of sustainability contacts at Regional level
• Ability to combine rigorous internal management of legislative compliance with external policy development and communications;
• Flexible, approachable and personable character


• Persuasive negotiator
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good negotiation skills, confident in developing and putting forward the company’s position in external meetings and with senior management;
• Ability to understand complex legislation and influence future policy development;
• Excellent organisational skills, ability to prioritise and manage multitude of issues simultaneously
• Significant experience of managing professionals over a geographically and culturally diverse region.
• High energy level, strong sense of teamwork and a ‘can do ‘ attitude
• The ability to combine strategic perspective with the need to act quickly when the situation demands
• The ability to prioritise work and deliver high quality output to tight deadlines
• Has strong inter-personal skills to interface at a senior level inside and outside the Bank
• Resourceful and creative
• Sensitive to changing environments and the ability to react and pro-act quickly to defend the Bank’s position and reputation
• Ability to know when to push the right buttons in delicate situations and to manage expectations of key stakeholders through creative suggestions.
• Ability to make sound recommendations to HCA and RHSA (and management)
