Superintendent – Environmental Compliance: Newmont Ghana

Newmont Ghana Gold Limited a subsidiary of Newmont Mining Corporation, one of the World’s largest gold mining companies.

Job Description

The successful candidate will report to the Environmental Manager and will provide environmental advice and support to all Ahafo Departments

Prepare External Environmental Reports to Environmental Protection Agency, Minerals Commission, Newmont Corporate, and others
Support all operations managers during yearly budget preparation
Ensure adequate resources and supplies are available to conduct and comply with environmental commitments
Lead and ensure the compliance of environmental programs with Environmental Management System (ISO 14001)
Make sure environmental programs for waste handling, sediment control, air quality, water quality among others are implemented to satisfy high environmental quality standards stated by company and regulatory entities

Required Skills or Experience

Must degree in Environmental Sciences or Engineering related field. at least 7 years environmental experience working in working mining or related industrial operations and 3 years in similar positions
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of Ghanaian Environmental Regulations applied to mining operations and ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standards
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, Twi language is advantageous
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, data management and GIS
