UNICEF Ghana has jut finished a new country programme with the government of Ghana to be implemented for 2012 – 2016. To help achieve the results expected in this new country programme the organisation is seeking to employ Ghanaian Nationals with profiles fitting the position listed below. Non-Ghanaians will not be considered.

Purpose of the Job:
Under the general supervision of the Deputy Representative, performs a variety of information collecting, monitoring, technical and administrative services of moderate scope and difficulty in support of programme activities and a variety of specialised tasks in support of the preparation, monitoring, and control of the budget, involving several different sources of funds and several programmes.

Key Accountabilities, Duties & Tasks:

  • Retrieve information on costs of programme elements, such as staff and related costs, from automated files and compile them in standardised and customised reports
  • Provide information or allotment accounts and availability of funds; issue revised sub-allotment; advise and update allotment lists
  • Check for each source of funding computer listings of expenditure by programme area and allotment code, and compiles information in computerised summarised reports to identify areas of over or under-expenditure
  • Check monthly expenditure reports, to ensure that charges are properly allocated and allotments are not exceeded
  • Prepare programme status reports by providing programmes’ budgets monitoring information, required for management, board, donors, budget reviews, programme analysis, annual reports, etc
  • Analyse and evaluate financial data to ensure achievement of objectives and recommend corrective action, when necessary
  • Ensure the accurate and timely input of programme information in computerized programme system and issurance of status reports for monitoring and evaluation purposes
  • Identify, formulate and monitor implementation of project agreements by reviewing a variety of records, including control plans, progress reports, projects inputs, budgets and financial expenditure
  • Assist the Planning Specialist and Deputy Representative with the preparation and timely submission of all donor reports
  • Assist in the identification, formulation of Programme Cooperation Agreements (PCAs) that support the implementation of the UNICEF/GoG CP and facilitates the preparation of draft project documents
  • Collects, registers and maintains information on PCA and other project activities by reviewing reports and through first-hand sources

 

Required Skills or Experience

 

Advertisement
  • Completion of Secondary School Education, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses in a field related to the work of the organisation
  • Seven years of progressively responsible clerical or administrative work, of which at least one year was closely related to support of programme activities
