The University for Development Studies, Tamale was established in 1992 as a multi-campus institution. It is the fifth public university to be established in Ghana. This deviates from the usual practice of having universities with central campuses and administrations. It was created with the three northern regions of North Ghana in mind. These are the Northern Region, Upper East Region and the Upper West Region

Job Description

Job Title: Director of University Health Services

Duties/ Responsibilities

The Director of Health Services shall:

• Be the Head of the University Health Directorate
• Plan and Implement policies on the University Health Services
• Provide leadership to all the staff in the University Health facilities
• Supervise the – activities and operation of all the University’s Health Facilities.

Required Skills or Experience

Candidate must have the following qualifications:

• An MB ChB or Dentistry (BDS) qualification.
• A Postgraduate Degree from a recognised Institution of Higher Learning in the relevant specialization.
• Must Either
• Have a minimum of ten (10) years post qualification experience in the practice of Medicine/Dentistry.   OR
• Show evidence of post qualification experience in a Senior Management position for at least two (2) years within the Ghana Health Service or in the Directorate of Health Services in a University or analogous institution.
• Be able to work for a minimum of five (5) years before attaining the statutory retirement age of sixty (60) years.
• Applicants who are Members and/or Fellows of recognised and relevant Professional Bodies would have added advantage.
