Job description

Job Title: Senior Support Engineer

The Position:

Reporting to the Global Services Manager, as Support Engineer you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of support activities and customers across West Africa. The role will cover both Anglophone and Francophone countries.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • VeriFone Mobile Money and Youtap! customer support
  • Managing backup of the oracle databases
  • Monitor customer database backups and resolve issues as they arise
  • Monitor customer’s production systems and identify performance bottle necks before they escalate
  • Respond and resolve customer queries in a timely fashion
  • Following up open issues and liaisons with the end customer to seek a resolution
  • Installing patches
  • Performing database queries
  • Building hardware, operating system and Eclipse application software as required
  • Assisting with new customer implementations as applicable and directed
  • Monthly customer and management reports

Our Requirements:

You should have at least 5 years experience in a similar role, preferably from within the telecoms or information technology sector. In addition, you’ll have the following skills and experience:

  • 5+ years of customer support
  • 3+ years of hardware support
  • 3+ years of software support
  • Experience with Oracle, Redhat and Java
  • Working knowledge of Unix
  • Working knowledge of SQL
  • Ability to think conceptually
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexibility to work weekends or after hours from time to time.

PLEASE NOTE: This role involves supporting Francophone countries so the successful candidate must be fluent in French. Candidates not fluent in French will not be considered for this role.
