The Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo), a subsidiary of the Volta River Authority, whose mission is to procure electricity and distribute it efficiently, safely and reliably in the northern sector of Ghana in a commercially viable manner.
Job Description
Job Function:
Provide leadership in ensuring timely and competitively priced technical/engineering services to NEDCo operational Department/Sections in planning, designing and project management for electrical distribution system network, provide strategic direction, innovation and in harnessing Information Technology for competitive advantage
Job Description:
Formulation of general engineering and management information system policy guidelines and procedures to ensure efficient and effective operations of NEDCo
Preparation of distribution network development plans and economic operating systems that have enough supply capacity to meet all present and future demands, as well as ensure safe, reliable and quality of supply of electricity to customers
Preparation of strategic documents on technical resource requirements and operational structures required to meet EC and PURC benchmarks
Implementation of core IT systems for use across NEDCo to incorporate adequate internal controls and safeguards
Develop and design systems for user support, training and documentation
Develop an effective framework/system of operational controls to ensure that only authorised processing can take place and that the reasons for the re-runs, backups or re-organizations if necessary, are identified and investigated
Institute the appropriate security controls and procedures to restrict access to the overall computer environment only to properly authorised users

Required Skills or Experience
A first degree in Engineering plus a post-graduate qualification Engineering, Business or Management/Administration
Well-developed electrical distribution system network planning, design and project management expertise
Good knowledge and understanding of ICT requirements for effective NEDCo operations
Extensive contract management and engineering services procurement experience
Strong analytical and technical problem-solving abilities
Proven skills in strategic planning and execution and continuously seeking innovative ways of achieving results
High degree of honesty, integrity and professionalism in business dealing
Excellent inter-personal, organizational, communication and negotiation skills
Ability to foster good working relationships and networks with social, political and business leaders for the benefit of NEDCo
